DR Congo international has rejected doubled salary offer from Yanga in pursuit of fresh challenge abroad.

Yanga SC's star striker, Fiston Mayele, has reportedly turned down a substantial salary increase from his current team, despite it being twice as large as his current earnings.

The Congolese forward, who emerged as the top scorer in both the CAF Confederation Cup and the Tanzania Premier League last season, has expressed his desire to explore new opportunities abroad and has been enticed by offers from renowned clubs outside Tanzania.

According to Tanzanian publication Mwanaspoti, Mayele has received enticing offers from clubs such as Esperance in Tunisia, Zamalek, and Pyramids in Egypt. As negotiations between Mayele and Yanga management have persisted, it has become apparent that the striker has set his sights on a fresh challenge elsewhere.

The determined forward has remained resolute in his decision, rejecting a salary increase that would have seen him earn over Tanzania Shillings 34 million (Ksh 2.1 million) per month.

Reports indicate that Mayele has taken steps suggesting his desire to depart from Yanga. A few days ago, he visited the team's camp in Avic Town, Kigamboni, and collected his belongings, fueling speculation about his imminent departure.

The club, aware of the situation, has expressed its willingness to consider his departure under certain conditions, which include securing a suitable replacement and receiving a fair transfer fee.

Yanga President Hersi Said, in a recent interview, acknowledged Mayele's contributions to the team and his desire to explore new opportunities.

"Mayele is a great player, and I'm pleased to see that he is attracting interest from other teams. This demonstrates that Yanga is a top-tier club with exceptional players. If he wishes to leave, we will assess three factors: our desire to retain him, negotiating a fair price, and identifying a suitable replacement," Hersi said.

Despite rejecting the salary increment, discussions between the player and the club are ongoing as they seek to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
