The South Africa Premier Soccer League duo have posted mixed performances this season.

Tanzania Premier League side Young Africans (Yanga) SC have confirmed they are keen to sign strikers Khama Billiat and Khayisha Mayo of Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City FC respectively.

Khama Billiat was among Amakhosi’s top-performing players in the attack under the guidance of Arthur Zwane last season.

But he has had tough competition for a spot in the Chiefs team due to injuries that brought the curtain down on his campaign in February.

The 32-year-old contract at Chiefs ends on June 30, and the player is uncertain whether he will get a new deal at the South African giants.

Mayo, meanwhile, has been a star man at Cape Town City, having found the back of the net 12 times in the South Africa Premier Soccer League this season.

His purple patch in front of goal has seen links to Kaizer Chiefs resurface, with Mamelodi Sundowns also reported to be chasing for his signature.

In an interview with Supersport, Yanga President Engineer Hersi Ally Said confirmed the two are one of the players on their radar.

“Yes, they are among the few players we are looking into from Premier Soccer League in South Africa. We want to take them to Tanzania as we want to pull crowds of fans supporting these players here to start following the Tanzanian league,” he said.

Said’s remarks follow the initial confirmation of interest by Yanga vice president Arafat Haji who had insisted that they would only discuss potential new signings at the end of the season.

Yanga, who recently won the Tanzanian league, has become the first club outside South African borders to register interest in the duo, and they will dangle CAF Champions League football in their bid to snare the two PSL stars.
