Jose Mourinho has rejected a potential move to Chelsea after being linked back to Stamford Bridge for the managerial position.

The Portuguese manager, who took over in 2021, has just over a year left on his initial contract with Roma, but his future is far from guaranteed.

Roma was led to the Europa Conference League last year, the Europa League semi-finals this year, and a serious top-four challenge by The Special One. As it stands, there is a possibility he leaves the club due to some financial issue.

Mourinho rubbishes Berardi statement

Pietro Berardi, the previous CEO, announced last month that the Portuguese will stay until the end of his contract but Mourinho has rubbished his comment.

Mourinho replied by saying, “It’s his interpretation. The situation is clear. From a contractual point of view, I still have a year left on my deal. Football is football. At times, contracts aren’t the most important thing.”

The 60-year-old has made it clear that he cannot predict what will happen next and at the moment he still has a year remaining on his contract with Roma.

Mourinho keen to remain at Roma

Jose Mourinho is expected to remain at Roma having been linked with the managerial position at Chelsea.

According to Corriere dello Sport, he turned down a call to speak to Chelsea. Mourinho said: "If you ask me do I have somebody that I would love to take over from 'my Chelsea' let's say that, yes, but I have but I close my mouth.

"The club reached such a level that it doesn't matter who it's with but Chelsea will always be Chelsea. Chelsea will always be big and my house will always be 200 metres away from the stadium so I want to keep listening to the sound of happiness and success. I'm pretty sure it's going to be like that."

Pochettino appears set to take that challenge as the new manager of Chelsea after having several negotiations with the club.
