Nigerian Super Eagles fans have requested for their No.1 goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, after CAF released 2023 Goalkeeper of the Year Award nominee list.

Some Nigerian fans have challenged CAF for leaving out the country's No.1 goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho from the Goalkeeper of the Year Award nominee list.

CAF released the award nominees of the year and in the Goalkeeper's category, it comprised ten goalkeepers having no Nigerian making the list.

Uzoho has been under scrutiny from Nigerian football fans for his below-par performance in the past two years, which expectedly made him not make the list.

Last month, he made the headlines after performing awfully against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique. His underperformance has become so consistent that Nigerians had to suggest good goalkeepers who can do better than Uzoho and Pulse Sports made a list of those shot-stoppers.

Despite the inadequacies of the 24-year-old in between the sticks, the Super Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro, has been on the defence of the underfire goalkeeper.

With CAF releasing the list, some Nigerian fans have sarcastically requested why Uzoho wasn't included. Here are some reactions below.

Fans have tipped Morocco's Yassine Bounou as the winner with Cameroon's Andre Onana as a worthy challenger.
