MLS fans made their frustrations clear during Inter Miami's 2-1 win over Vancouver, as Lionel Messi was again absent due to injury.

Inter Miami defeated Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 on Saturday night, and Lionel Messi was nowhere to be found.

Manager Tata Martino chose to leave Messi out, along with Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets.

While Messi remains one of the world's best players, the 36-year-old has suffered a few injuries this season between March 15 and April 3. Those injuries kept him out for 4 games, and since returning, he hasn't featured in consecutive matches.

Martino explains Lionel Messi's absence against Vancouver

Martino defended his decision after the game saying:

"We understand the people's frustration, especially in wanting to see these players, but it is our job as the coaching staff to make these uncomfortable decisions.

"We understand what these players provoke in the league and other markets, but we have to take these measures that are sometimes unpleasant for people."

Throughout the game, fans chanted "Where is Messi."

Despite the 8-time Ballon d'Or winner being absent, the Herons won the game 2-1 to maintain their place at the summit.
