Virgil van Dijk has opened up on his interaction with referee Stuart Attwell after Liverpool's Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has expressed his disappointment with referee Stuart Attwell's decision not to send off Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall during their Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg match.
Bergvall scored the only goal of the game, giving Tottenham a 1-0 advantage.
Van Dijk felt that Bergvall should have been given a second yellow card for a foul on Kostas Tsimikas, just a minute before scoring the winning goal.

Liverpool emerge as surprise candidate to land Victor Osimhen
The pool of suitors vying for Victor Osimhen's talents widens as Liverpool have reportedly entered the race.
The Dutch defender had a conversation with Attwell after the match, expressing his opinion on the matter.
"Listen, I think it was quite obvious that it was going to be a second yellow," Van Dijk told Sky Sports.
"I think that was pretty clear and it was a coincidence that a minute later he scores the winner. But it is what it is. He made a mistake in my opinion and I told him that.
"He thinks maybe he didn’t but it was quite obvious. Everyone on the sideline knew exactly that it was supposed to be a yellow."
Liverpool will now focus on overturning the tie when they host Tottenham in the return leg at Anfield in February.
