The Aba Elephants have won four of their last six NPFL meetings with Remo Stars, with the Ikenne club winning their previous encounter in July 2022.

Ahead of their week five fixture in the 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Enyimba manager George Finidi has stated boldly that his side will not relent in their performance when they take on Remo Stars.

The record Nigerian champions picked up their second win of the season after a brace by Chukwuemeka Obioma and another goal from debutant Ademola Adebambo, helped them dispatch visiting Kwara United in a 3-0 victory in Aba last weekend.

While the win for Enyimba saw them move into qualification places for the playoffs, it also meant the Aba Elephants had now defeated Kwara United on six consecutive league occasions at the Enyimba Stadium.

In the fifth game week of the season, Enyimba will turn their attention to second-placed Remo Stars, who got handed their first defeat of 2023 by Group A leaders Bendel Insurance.

We can get a good result against Remo Stars, Finidi says

Speaking on his side's midweek fixture with the Ikenne-based club, Finidi, who also doubles as the Super Eagles assistant manager, stated that his side was going to go into the tie in the same mentality as they did their last.

"We are all happy for the victory. It was an outstanding game for the players. I think they did so well." Finidi said after Enyimba's victory on Sunday.

"We, as the coaching staff, know this team is good, it's just for them to come to the party.

Ogunmodede upbeat ahead of Enyimba visit

Meanwhile, Remo Stars manager Daniel Ogunmodede believes his side can turn around their fortunes after their devastating 3-0 defeat to Bendel Insurance.

Reacting ahead of the Enyimba fixture, the 42-year-old described the league - which will see 14 more games before the playoffs - as a marathon.

"Today things didn't go the way I wanted it, tomorrow, things will be the way I want it, Ogunmodede said in the post-match conference after his side's defeat in Benin City.

"The league is a marathon," he added.

Their last six meetings in the NPFL have seen Enyimba come out tops on four occasions, in comparison to Remo Stars' one win. The only time the Sky Blue Stars defeated Enyimba was when both sides met at Remo Stars Stadium in July 2022.
