Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham assessed their performance against Arsenal candidly.

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has admitted to their inferiority to Arsenal in the Champions League defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

Los Blancos were shocked by a fearless Arsenal side that punished them for their disjointed approach to the game, beating them 3-0 thanks to goals from Declan Rice and Mikel Merino.

What Bellingham said

Real Madrid were lacklustre in the match, and Bellingham, sharing similar sentiments with Pulse Sports’ Asukwo Oduo, admitted that his side could have conceded more than the three goals they let in.

"We were nowhere near it. That's the fact and Arsenal were really good,” Bellingham said, per the BBC. “ I know two of their goals were free-kicks but they could have had way more.”

The margin of the defeat sets up an uphill battle for Los Merengues in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu, and while Real Madrid are no strangers to dramatic comebacks in Europe, Bellingham admitted that it would take something extraordinary to overturn the deficit against Arsenal.

“There is a second leg and that's what we're holding on to. We need something really special, something crazy really but one place where crazy things happen is our house. 90 more minutes at home to pull something out of the bag.”

"They're two great pieces of individual quality and if it wasn't for them, they still have other chances. We got punished and that happens at top-level football.

"In these games, you need to create more. Very rarely do you come to a place like this score one goal and take your lead back home. They reacted really well to the transition. We didn't do enough on the ball to threaten.

"We're still alive; we've got 90 mins of football and anything can happen at the Bernabeu."
