Samuel Chukwueze has provided a candid assessment from within the AC Milan squad, highlighting the profound challenges faced during a difficult season.
AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has admitted that the 2024-25 season was the most difficult of his career, specifically in terms of team performance.
The campaign began poorly for Milan, leading to a coaching change in December when Sergio Conceicao replaced Paolo Fonseca.
Despite winning the Supercoppa Italiana shortly after his arrival, the team's fortunes declined.
Chukwueze on Milan’s season of disappointment
The club also suffered a disappointing Champions League elimination against Feyenoord, and the Rossoneri’s form did not improve as Conceicao's side ultimately finished eighth in Serie A and suffered defeat in the Coppa Italia final against Bologna.
The Rossoneri's results have prompted significant changes for the 2025-26 season, with Igli Tare recently appointed as sporting director and Massimiliano Allegri's return as head coach confirmed.
Chukwueze offered a revealing perspective on the season's difficulties, though he did praise the enduring loyalty of the Milan supporters.
“Last season is something we don’t really want to talk about,” said Chukwueze on Victor Modo‘s podcast via Sempre Milan. “It was a bad season for the Milan fans and for everyone involved.
“Honestly, it’s one of the worst seasons of my professional career. I’m not going to lie – we didn’t win anything, I didn’t play much, even though I had the stats.
“We crashed out of the Champions League, lost in the cup, fell short in the league – everything just went wrong. It was a tough season, with injuries, changing the coach, bringing in a new one. It was all upside down.
“The Milan fans are some of the best in the world. They truly deserve better. They travel with us in the rain, and even when it’s freezing, you see them taking off their shirts, chanting and showing unwavering support.

The Nigerian winger was a late substitute and was unable to impact the match as Bologna beat AC Milan
“Unfortunately, we let them down this season. I hope next season will be much better in Milan — winning the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia, and securing Champions League qualification to make up for everything.”
What’s next for Chukwueze?
While Chukwueze’s future at Milan has caused uncertainty, the wide attacker remains at San Siro for the time being.
