On Tuesday, the International University of East Africa and Nkumba University played a goalless draw in Lukulu in Group E action in the Pepsi University Football League.

Although opportunities to score were scarce for both sides, IUEA is yet to register a victory in the tournament, with anticipation building for their debut win since their entry.

Expressing the growing pains of nurturing a fresh squad, IUEA's head coach, Hassan Wasswa, highlighted the team's developmental phase, aiming to create a robust lineup for both current contests and future endeavors.

"It's a budding campaign, introducing new team members. My focus is on constructing a squad capable of holding its own over the next two to three years," Wasswa remarked to the press.

While acknowledging the disappointing tally of two points from three games, he remained optimistic. "Our goal of advancing to the quarter-finals is very much alive. We're looking forward to turning the tide in our next matchup against Nkumba."

Wasswa further noted the absence of two pivotal players from the day's game, expressing hope for their return to boost the team's performance in forthcoming matches.

On the other side, Nkumba's coach, Sulaiman Bbosa, expressed mixed feelings. "Our second-half display was deserving of a win. Though we failed to capitalize on our chances, securing a point is still a favorable outcome," he stated.

Bbosa further elaborated on the team's tactical missteps: "We had envisioned that by fielding our seasoned midfielders, the game would naturally sway in our favor. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case."

Following this match, Nkumba University has amassed four points from three outings, having earlier triumphed over Gulu University. Meanwhile, IUEA has garnered two points from an equal number of games.
