Ulinzi Starlets secured a resounding victory over Vihiga Queens, clinching the FKF Women's Super Cup with a commanding 2-0 win at Utalii Grounds on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

The stellar performance was highlighted by goals from Joy Kinglady and Mercy Airo in each half, solidifying their status as the defending FKF Super Cup holders.

Wambua acknowledged the toughness of Vihiga in previous encounters, recognising the strategic importance of this victory in setting the tone for the upcoming season.

With only a week remaining until the official kickoff of the FKF Women's Premier League, Ulinzi Starlets strategically bolstered their squad by signing two promising players.

The acquisition of defender Immaculate Wagira from Kakamega Starlets and attacker Rita Ojwang from Wadadia aims to fortify Ulinzi's lineup for the challenges that lie ahead.

Meanwhile, Vihiga Queens' head coach, Boniface Nyamuhnyamuh, remained bullish despite the setback, expressing confidence in overcoming Ulinzi in the season opener.

Vihiga Queens, the reigning FKF Women Premier League champions, are determined to build on their success from the previous season, having secured the title with 52 points, four ahead of first runners-up Gaspo Women.

As anticipation for the new season intensifies, teams across the league are actively reinforcing their squads. Gaspo Women, for instance, made a bold move by bringing in 11 new players, including midfielder Venessa Wangari and defender Lavenda Owiti from Kiabagre Girls.

The team aims to solidify its position as a formidable contender in the upcoming season.

The FKF Women Premier League's first round of matches on Saturday, October 7, promises an exciting start to the season.

Nakuru Queens will face Wadadia at ASK Grounds Nakuru, Trans Nzoia Falcons will clash with Zetech Sparks at Ndura Sports Complex, and Vihiga Queens are set to take on Ulinzi Starlets at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Gaspo Women will host Bunyore at the Nairobi Stima Club, while new entrants Bungoma Queens are gearing up for a showdown against Kibera Soccer Ladies at the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.
