According to reports, Conor Gallagher may be on the verge of a shocking departure from Chelsea as Tottenham looks to sign the England international.

The English international returned from an impressive loan spell from Crystal Palace last season but could not hit the ground running for the Blues.

The 23-year-old midfielder played 45 times for the Blues last season, but only contributed three goals and one assist.

Tottenham are reportedly looking to sign the midfielder from Chelsea and could make a bid for the Englishman.

As Chelsea continues its massive purge this summer, the midfielder might also get thrown off the team according to recent reports.

Tottenham considering Gallagher

Recent reports have claimed that Tottenham are looking to add quality to their midfield ranks and could make a move for Gallagher.

The Telegraph reports that Spurs are considering making an approach for the England player, who has seven international caps.

The Sun also reported that with the departures of N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the team, Gallagher may now start more games this year.

However, it is looking more likely that he will leave the two times Champions League winners this summer.

Postecoglou thinks Gallagher would be the ideal match for his exuberant personality and physical appearance.

Chelsea looking to balance the books

Gallagher could join the likes of Kante, Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, and Cesar Azpilicueta out the door if he were to leave Chelsea this summer.

According to reports from the Sun, after spending £600 million over the course of the last two transfer windows, the Blues are attempting to balance their finances.

Nonetheless, they spent £84 million on two forwards, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson this summer.

The Blues have recouped more than £200 million from the sale of eight players this summer and they are still expecting more players to leave before the end of the transfer window.
