Top-five dream alive? Ola Aina speaks out after Forest’s draw at Palace

Following Monday's draw against Crystal Palace, Ola Aina shared his thoughts on Nottingham Forest's quest for Champions League qualification.

Ola Aina has lauded Nottingham Forest’s doggedness despite Monday’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Crystal Palace.

Maximum points would have seen Nuno Espirito Santo’s men end the gameweek level on points with Newcastle United and Chelsea on 63 points.

However, Forest could only draw at Selhurst Park, where they were perhaps fortunate to avoid losing.

Aina reflects on Forest’s form

Murillo's goal ensured that the sixth-placed side left London with a point, maintaining their position in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of Newcastle and Chelsea.

The draw sets the stage for a tense conclusion to the season for Forest, who aim for Champions League participation next season.

Reflecting on their recent form, Aina acknowledged that dips happen in football, but believes the point gained in London could prove significant for his side.

"It just happens. This is football, sometimes it just doesn't go your way,” said the defender on Monday.

"Unfortunately for us, it hasn't gone our way recently but the hard work continues and we try to get three points every game but we couldn't get that (against Palace).

"I think it's a good point away from home. Tough to come here - they are a good side. And you know, with the level that we hit recently, a point is a good result."

What’s next for Nottingham Forest?

Aina and his teammates return to action against relegated Leicester City on Sunday, May 11.

Given that Chelsea travel to Newcastle on the same day, Forest could end gameweek 36 inside the coveted top-five spots.
