He made his transfer from Athletic Bilbao to Chelsea for a world record Shs. 324 billion in the summer of 2018 despite interest from clubs like Real Madrid.

The Spanish international kept 12 clean sheets in 39 matches played last season as he regained his number one spot after a considerable time playing second fiddle to Eduard Mendy.

He has also won several accolades at Liverpool, including the Golden Gloves in 2019 and 2022, the UEFA Champions League in 2019, and Premier League in 2020, providing the cover at the backline for a historic time at the club.

He was part of the incredible Ajax side, managed by his current head coach, with a fairy tale run to the Champions League semi-final, defeating Real Madrid and Juventus.

He was part of Inter Milan side that Manchester City defeated in the final of the 2023 UEFA Champions League.

Onana hopes to continue the long tradition of having great goalkeepers as he replaces David De Gea, who served the club for 12 years.

Buffon has made 975 appearances and kept 429 clean sheets throughout his career, playing for three clubs.

The 45-year-old has had a glittering career winning ten Serie A titles with Juventus and the FIFA World Cup, among others.

He is currently back at boyhood club Parma, which he joined in 2021, with his contract set to run down in the summer of 2024.
