Trucha sent a rallying call to AFC Leopards fans in his last stint at the club, comparing Ingwe's troubles to Jurgen Klopp during his difficult first few months as Liverpool boss

AFC Leopards finally confirmed former coach Tomas Trucha as their new tactician after dismissing Tom Juma following an underwhelming start to the season.

Trucha was appointed Leopards head coach in November 2020 but left after barely a month in the dugout, citing that his life was in danger after allegedly feeling threatened by a section of supporters.

Leopards supporters have historically been known to be very impatient if they do not enjoy what they see on the pitch, and were already calling for Tom Juma’s head after just three games of the season.

Trucha famously gave a message to the fans back when he was appointed, comparing their situation to that of Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp when things were far from plain-sailing in the opening moments of his tenure at the club in 2015.

When Klopp joined Liverpool, the club finished eighth and lost the Carling Cup and Europa League final to Manchester City and Sevilla respectively, and also had to endure embarrassing results along the way, such as losing 3-0 to Watford at Anfield.

The Czech coach asked for fans to be patient with his process, seemingly suggesting that fans get on board with his methods if they saw promise if results were not immediately forthcoming.

“I follow Liverpool because of Jurgen Klopp,” Trucha told Radull Live back in 2020, “If you remember, Liverpool were struggling and the fans were putting pressure on all the technical team, coaches and players,” he added.

“I would say yes, put pressure on but if you see that we are fighting and doing everything to win the game -in football you can win, lose or draw - but if you see that the coaches, office and players are doing everything to win the game, please appreciate.

“If you see that we are relaxing and not putting effort to win, then fans have a right to tell us that something is wrong.

“If you see that we are doing everything that we can do and sometimes, opponent also do everything that they can do (to win the game), sometimes they will succeed.

“Our technical team and the players, we promise you we will do everything possible to win every game. We are doing it everyday in training, but be patient and put pressure at the right time please.”

Leopards have lost two and drawn four of their first six matches of the campaign, and last Saturday’s derby loss to arch rivals Gor Mahia proved to be the final nail in Juma's coffin.
