Super Eagles assistant coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has passed the league baton to his friend and colleague Daniel Ogunmodede and his history-making Remo Stars.
Super Eagles assistant coach and Rangers International boss, Fidelis Ilechukwu, endured a disappointing weekend as his team suffered a 2-1 home defeat to fierce rivals Enyimba in a thrilling Southeast derby at the Cathedral in Enugu.
The loss, Rangers’ sixth at home this season, not only handed regional bragging rights to the visiting Elephants but also effectively ended the Flying Antelopes’ hopes of retaining the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.

Super Eagles' Daniel Ogunmodede escapes disaster as Equal Rights restaurant in Lagos collapses. He focuses on leading Remo Stars to NPFL title.
Enyimba, led by Stanley Eguma, showed their pedigree by overcoming Rangers in front of a passionate home crowd.
The result means Rangers have now dropped 22 points at home this season, a stark contrast to their title-winning campaign last year.

With just three games left, Ilechukwu’s side sits on 49 points, well adrift of newly crowned champions Remo Stars, who sealed their historic first NPFL title with a 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
The defeat represents a double blow for Ilechukwu, who recently accepted a national team role but now faces the reality of a disappointing league run and the end of Rangers’ title challenge.

The baton has now passed to his friend and fellow Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede, whose Remo Stars have made history as the first privately owned club to win the NPFL since Julisu Berger in 2000.
Despite the setback, Ilechukwu has vowed to keep fighting for a strong finish and a continental spot as Rangers turn their attention to the closing fixtures and the President Federation Cup.
However, the pain of losing both the derby and the league title on home soil will linger for the Flying Antelopes and their fans.
