The gaffer is remembered for guiding Vihiga United to the top flight from the National Super League in 2020.

Shabana FC coach Sammy Okoth remains confident he will guide the team to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

The Glamour Boys are leading the pack with 51 points, 10 clear of second-placed Murang'a Seal, with nine matches remaining until the end of the season.

After guiding his charges to a 1-0 win over Mwatate United on Friday, Okoth again pronounced the club's promotion chances back to the top flight.

"I'm confident my team can earn promotion to the top tier if we remain consistent. It's a dream we all want to achieve, but we must maintain good performances to succeed," he said.

The former Kenya international has also appreciated the fans for supporting and motivating the players even when under pressure.

"I want to thank all our fans for the love, support and belief they have shown us on behalf of my able troops. We will keep on fighting to bring you happiness every week," he added.

Okoth has been with Shabana FC since February last year after filling the role left by Robert Ojienda.

The ex-Gor Mahia defender is remembered for guiding Vihiga United to promotion from the National Super League (NSL) in 2020 before he resigned over financial constraints.

Shabana finished a distant seventh in the National Super League last season after accumulating 54 points from 36 matches.

The Glamour Boys will next be at Simeon Nyachae Stadium on Thursday for a tough match against Naivas FC.
