Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo makes a bold claim, stating that the Saudi Professional League is more competitive than the French top flight.

Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, has recently made a bold statement about the competitiveness of the league.

According to Ronaldo, the Saudi Pro League is more competitive than France's Ligue 1. This remark came during his appearance at the 14th edition of the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.

What he said

Ronaldo, who has a rich history in European football, having played in England, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, expressed his opinion that the Saudi Pro League has now surpassed the French league in terms of competitiveness.

The Portuguese’s confidence in the Saudi Pro League reflects his positive experience at Al-Nassr and his belief in the future potential of the league. He expressed his happiness at Al-Nassr and optimism for the development of football in Saudi Arabia, indicating that the league could become one of the top three in the world and a source of pride for the people of Saudi Arabia.

He stated, "The Saudi League is not worse than Ligue 1; it is actually more competitive than Ligue 1. I can say that after spending one year there. We are better than the French league now."

This comment comes at a time when top players like Neymar have also moved to Saudi clubs and other European stars like Karim Benzema and Riyad Mahrez have been linked with moves away from the region.

The statement also contrasts with the decision of Jordan Henderson, who recently left the Saudi side Al-Ettifaq to join Ajax, despite not criticising the Saudi league during his departure.

Ronaldo is happy in Saudi Arabia

Ronaldo and his teammates are mounting a title challenge this season, and the Portuguese has been at the forefront, having already scored 20 goals in 18 league appearances. He has expressed his joy at making the move and reiterated his belief in the league.

“I feel so happy at Al Nassr; it's a great move. Saudi Arabia is in a process; it will take long, he said. “But step by step, they will go to the top level. I think the Saudi Pro League will be among the top three leagues in the world. People in Saudi Arabia will be proud.” he added.
