Remo Stars are just three points away from the Super Six spot with four games to go in the NPFL abridged season.

The Sky Blues saw their Super Six hopes to suffer a setback after dropping two more points in the NPFL.

New signing, Franck Kwame, opened the scoring at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne but Divine Nwachukwu ensured a share of the spoils when he equalised for the Group A leaders.

Remo celebrate milestone

The result against Insurance saw Remo drop points for the third consecutive game in the football league after three draws.

However, despite going three matches without a win, the club has taken to their social media account to celebrate a landmark.

Kwame’s goal against the Benin Arsenals was the 100th goal for Remo in the Nigeria football league in just 112 matches.

“Franck Mawuena’s header against Bendel Insurance was our 100th goal scored in Nigeria’s topflight league. Milestone,” Remo posted on their account.

Breaking down the landmark, the club added that Victor Mbaoma netted the club’s first goal in the NPFL while Samuel Anakwe was the scorer of the club’s 50th goal.

Wasteful Remo

Meanwhile, Remo may have scored 100 goals in 112 matches in the league, the Blues have struggled in the final third this season.

Ikenne-based Remo Stars have managed just an average of 0.71 goals per game in the 2023 abridged NPFL season.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede believes his Remo boys have themselves to blame after another dropped points in the NPFL.

Ogunmodede was left distraught after the Sky Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Group A leaders Bendel Insurance at the weekend in Ikenne.

The Sky Blues have scored 10 goals in 14 matches this season in the NPFL, an average of just 0.71 goals in the football league.

“We played draw because we never took our chances,” coach Ogunmodede said. “We had a lot of chances but we were careless with the goal they (Bendel) scored. It was a quick restart and we were careless (and) slept off.”
