However, a transfer never materialised, and Lookman returned to action for Atalanta as a late substitute in their 3-0 victory over Torino last weekend.

Although his current contract runs until 2027, Atalanta are eager to secure his commitment by offering both financial incentives and a future exit option, balancing the player's ambitions with the club's stability.

Ahead of Saturday's major clash, Ivan Juric confirmed that the Nigerian is nearing full fitness after a delayed start to his season.

"He’s training well, and we will slowly try to get him back to full strength," Juric stated in his pre-match press conference.

As he reintegrates into the Atalanta squad, Lookman will be aiming to regain top form ahead of Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifiers in October.
