The 2025/26 Premier League season is just around the corner, and alongside the usual excitement lies the anticipation of some historic milestones being broken.
From veteran longevity to youthful breakthroughs, here are five records that can realistically be eclipsed this season.
Youngest Premier League goalscorer – Max Dowman
Arsenal’s electrifying youngster Max Dowman is still only 15 years old but is already being touted as the Gunners’ new wonderkid.
While he won’t beat Ethan Nwaneri’s youngest-ever appearance record (15 years, 181 days), Dowman stands a genuine chance of becoming the Premier League’s youngest-ever scorer.
The current record belongs to James Vaughan, who was 16 years and 270 days old in 2005 when he scored his maiden goal for Everton.
Dowman’s rapid rise, from scoring in the UEFA Youth League to making first-team appearances during Arsenal’s pre-season, has many pundits excited.
If entrusted with opportunities this season, even a single league goal before his next birthday on December 31 could cement his name in the record books.
Most Premier League appearances – James Milner
Brighton’s James Milner is on the brink of rewriting Premier League history. As of May 2025, he has amassed 638 top-flight appearances, just 15 shy of the all-time record held by Gareth Barry (653).
Across an extraordinary 23-season-long career, Milner has defied both age and adversity, most recently overcoming a nerve-damaging knee injury that threatened his ability to walk again. Yet he not only returned to the pitch, he signed a one-year extension with Brighton, ensuring another crack at the record in the 2025/26 campaign.
His endurance and adaptability, spanning stints at Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Brighton, tell a story of unparalleled consistency.
If he features in fewer than half of Brighton’s league games, he will still make history, making his record-breaking run not just plausible, but almost inevitable.
Most Premier League Golden Boots & most goals for one club – Mohamed Salah
Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah already stands tied with Thierry Henry for the most Premier League Golden Boot awards at four.
The 2025/26 Premier League season gives Liverpool’s talisman a chance to stand alone atop that list with a fifth top scorers’ award.
Meanwhile, Salah has 184 league goals for Liverpool, and a tally of 30 or more this season would push him past Harry Kane in becoming the player with the most goals for one Premier League club and one of only four players to have crossed the 200-goal mark for a single side.
Salah’s lethal combination of consistency, longevity, and loyalty makes both records entirely achievable, especially if he replicates his form from the 2024/5 campaign.
Most Premier League free-kicks – James Ward-Prowse
Manchester United legend David Beckham’s haul of 18 Premier League free-kick goals has stood unbeaten since 2003.
But West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse, with 17, is tantalisingly close to breaking the ex-England international’s record.
Ward-Prowse’s set-piece accuracy has long been his trademark, yet he has endured a frustrating drought, as his last free-kick goal came back in February 2023 for Southampton against Chelsea.
Now back in the limelight as West Ham’s vice-captain, he commands the dead-ball duties and represents perhaps the likeliest challenger to Beckham’s 22-year-old record.
Clinching one more could propel Ward-Prowse from another capable free kick taker to legendary status among set-piece specialists.
Most Premier League hat-tricks – Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland’s deadliness in front of goal is well known to all after scoring eight hat-tricks in three Premier League seasons.
Only three players in the league’s history have more: Sergio Aguero (12), Alan Shearer (11), and Robbie Fowler (9).
If Haaland continues his relentless scoring form, he could surpass these legendary names and climb the all-time hat-trick leaderboard with four more trebles.
Given Manchester City's potential dominance and Haaland’s finishing ability, cracking this record is well within reach.
