The English manager has found himself under more pressure following the Saturday home defeat.

After Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, Graham Potter has been tipped to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

The bookmakers slashed Potter’s odds as his time at the London club draws more scrutiny following the latest loss.

Julian Nagelsmann, who was recently sacked by Bayern Munich and replaced by immediate former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, leads the race to take over the Premier League club, according to reports.

However, according to Sky Sports Germany, the Chelsea board is keen to support Potter behind the scenes.

Although Nagelsmann has been massively linked with Tottenham Hotspur, reports indicate the German does not see them as his next option. It is also unlikely that Nagelsmann will take on a new job right away.

Potter oversaw his first loss in five games, and the Villa defeat left the Blues in the bottom half.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has called for patience with Potter.

"You’ve made a decision of going with young players, so you have to give them the time to make mistakes and get it right," said Hasselbaink, as quoted by Daily Mail.

"You have to give them time, otherwise, they are never going to be the final product if they don’t go through this period.

"And you have made the decision to go for Potter. At the moment, they are in a difficult time, but I feel you have to stick with him. You have gone with young players and Potter, stick with the project."

The next assignment for Chelsea will be an away game against Liverpool on April 4.
