Following Nicolas Jackson’s suspension,  Chelsea turned to forgotten man Armando Broja to solve their goalscoring crisis - and the Albanian international delivered.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that he could keep academy graduate Armando Broja in the Chelsea line-up to face Burnley following an impressive outing against Fulham.

Summer arrival Nicolas Jackson was sidelined through suspension after picking up five yellow cards already this season.

The Blues had scored just five goals from their opening six matches before beating Fulham on Monday, with three of those strikes coming against Premier League new boys Luton Town.

Jackson has been profligate in front of goal despite producing impressive performances with his enthusiastic style of play.

His miss in the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last month triggered alarm bells. Chelsea turned to forgotten man Broja to solve their goalscoring crisis - and the Albanian international delivered.

Quizzed on whether Broja has the chance to keep his place against Burnley, Pochettino hinted that it is not out of the cards.

“Yes, I think we know now for three months when you start to work here and before. You start to feel the player in a training session you can see the potential,” Pochettino said

The 22-year-old, starting his first game for the Blues since December, put an early miss behind him to fire the second goal in a convincing 2-0 win over Fulham.

A much-improved Chelsea performance earned them the West London bragging rights and, with Broja in attack, they had a focal point to aim for.

“ I think Broja has amazing potential. Now it's about how he recovers from this injury and long period he was out.

“ He is a very talented player, we trust him, that's why he played against Fulham and maybe tomorrow. Now he needs time to feel complete. If not his body, in his mind also. It sometimes also affects your mind.

“ He is in a very good mood, a very good way, working really hard and I hope he can improve in the next few weeks and be a player that we really trust.
