Lwasa's departure marks the end of an era amidst challenges for Gor Mahia.

Ugandan midfielder Peter Lwasa has shared a message to the K'Ogalo faithful after parting ways with record Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions, Gor Mahia.

The 24-year-old midfielder's departure comes after a series of renewal talks between the player and the club, which unfortunately did not yield an agreement.

As a result, Lwasa now exits the club as a free agent, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Lwasa, who joined Gor Mahia in September 2021 from Kariobangi Sharks, had previously been a part of the football scene in Kenya, having made a name for himself while playing for Sofapaka.

In a heartfelt note shared on Thursday, Lwasa expressed his gratitude to everyone at Gor Mahia for the time he spent with the club.

“I have this Thursday officially officially parted ways with Gor Mahia FC. I want to extend a big thanks to everyone at K'Ogalo for putting in such hard work on every task we have had,” he wrote.

The midfielder acknowledged the challenges they faced as a team, noting that the journey had not been easy.

“It hasn’t been easy, but I think we reached new heights on everything! I’m proud of each one of you for never giving up and supporting one another,” Lwasa added.

Addressing the club's fervent fan base, Lwasa expressed his deep appreciation for their unwavering support.

“To the fans, I can't find good words to express my appreciation for the support you gave the team, however, big up buddies! I wish the club the best ahead! Have a great time,” he concluded.

Lwasa's exit from Gor Mahia comes amid reports that the club's sanctions from FIFA due to breaches of contracts with some of their former players has been lifted.

Among the foreign players who remain with the club are Rwandan defender Emery Bayisenge and Ugandan striker Patrick Kaddu, highlighting the changing landscape within the team.
