Remo Stars finished second on the NPFL table (Group A) to record their highest final position in the Nigerian top-flight.

Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogumodede has revealed that he is happy for his players after his teams secured one of the six available spots for the 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Super 6 playoff.

The final day of the 2023 regular season saw the Ikenne club trump Kwara United 4-0 to finish second in Group A with 33 points - the second time in their history they had scored four goals in an NPFL.

Ogumodede happy with Remo Stars' 2nd place finish

Reacting to his team's performance in the season, Ogunmodede who had won the NPFL manager of the month for March/April, emphasised that his side were going to the Super 6 to put up a similar performance as they did during the regular season.

"I'm happy for the players after so much they passed through in the first round. We passed through a lot, and conceded a lot of cheap goals," Ogumodede said in a post-game interview.

"Now imagine coming back in the second round to end the regular season like this. I'm so happy and contented. I feel so happy for the players, especially the younger ones, it builds confidence and is good for our project.

"We going to the super 6 to compete, just like we go to every competition to compete, we are not going for less," he concluded.

Super 6 playoff to kick off June 3

Remo Stars' second-place finish in the NPFL (Group A of the 2023 season), was the highest final position they had ever recorded in the Nigerian top-flight.

The final day of the 2023 season also saw Enyimba and Sunshine Stars all secure needed results to join already qualified Bendel Insurance, Lobi Stars and defending champions Rivers United in the playoffs.

According to the Interim Management Company (IMC), the NPFL Super 6 playoff is to kick off on Saturday, June 3 and run through to Sunday, June 11.
