Boniface, who is yet to play for the senior national team scored nine goals and created eight assists in 36 appearances for Union Saint Gilloise this season.

The potential Super Eagles striker will be looking to win the award to replicate Paul Onuachu’s feat when he won it for Club Brugge during the 2020-21 season.

Just like the English Premier League’s Player’s Player Award, footballers in Belgium's topflight division will be voting for the best star player this season.

Union SG finished second in the Belgian Pro League behind winner Club Brugge but qualified for Champions League football next season.

Boniface scored eight out their 70 goals scored in the league and added six more in the Europa League.

The Belgian side were knocked out by Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter finals of the Europa League on a 5-2 aggregate scoreline.
