Nigeria vs South Africa: Super Eagles player fail to sing new national anthem

Nigeria played a 1-1 draw against tough opponent South Africa in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

T Zwane gave South Africa the lead in the 29th minute, and Dele Bashiru tied the score in the 46th to bring the Super Eagles back to parity.

The draw leaves the Super Eagles of Nigeria in fifth place in Group C with three points from their first three matches.

Before the start of the game, the new national anthem was played in the stadium, and Super Eagles players were seen mumbling their lips.

According to Instablog9ja on X, Super Eagles players were seen singing the new National anthem with pride during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers match against South Africa in Uyo  - @azastudiosng - @footballtemple_

The footage showed some of the players placing their hands on their chests and looking focused without saying any word of the anthem.

The new national anthem, which was introduced a few weeks ago, has sparked a lot of conversations online as many struggle to recite the anthem.

The players will also have to sing the national anthem when they travel to Abijan to face the Benin Republic on Monday.
