The introduction of VAR in Nigeria would start off at 'regional levels' - the North Central, North East, North West, South East, the South-South and the South West.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have revealed that it have finalised plans to install Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in regional stadiums across the nation, this is according to the president of the Federation Ibrahim Gusau.
The NFF made this known at the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA)'s National Elective Delegates Conference on Saturday in Ilorin, adding that referee training and retraining programmes are part of the plans being worked to that end.

Referee association gets new chief
Saturday witnessed members of the NRA converge in Ilorin, Kwara State to elect new officials that would supervise the smooth running of officiating across the country.
The elective congress saw Sani Zubair defeat Daniel Olokor to become the new president of the Referees' Association after receiving 53 votes out of the 54 accredited delegates. Zubair will now replace the outgoing referees association chief, Otunba Tade Azeez.
Zubair in his acceptance speech, requested the assistance of all of his colleagues to function effectively in his new role, and thanked them for their support, adding that the new NRA leadership wasn't going to take it for granted.

Speaking at the event, the NFF president represented by Muhammed Ameenu, urged the association's incoming leadership to come up with development plans, that could advance the game of football in Nigeria, and ensure a future for Nigerian Referees.

Gusau also stated that the installation of VAR is essential to the growth and development of football and added that the NFF had unwavering support for the NRA.
According to the NFF, the installation of VAR in the country would take place in regional stadiums across the nation, although the federation did not further reveal how this would affect competitions under its belt including the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) or the Federation Cup.
Nigeria is currently divided into six regions: the North Central, the North East, the North West, the South East, the South-South and the South West.
