No Nigerians selected as FIFA announce 81 referees for 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup

Nigeria's Flying Eagles will be one of 24 teams participating in the age-grade tournament.

The FIFA Referees Committee has selected 25 referees and 38 assistant referees for the forthcoming 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, with Nigerian officials notably missing from the list.

The 24-team tournament will see Nigeria's Flying Eagles among the teams to grace the age-grade tournament on Argentina.

For the tournament, 18 video match officials have been appointed, alongside 25 referees and 38 assistant referees.

Flying Eagles in Pot 3 ahead of Friday's draw

Meanwhile, ahead of Friday's official draw at the FIFA Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, Nigeria have been placed in Pot 3.

Friday's official draw will see all 24 teams placed in six groups of four, with Nigeria's Flying Eagles to be lined up with teams from pots 1, 2 and 4.

Pot 1: Argentina (hosts), Uruguay, USA, France, Senegal, Italy

Pot 2: England, South Korea, New Zealand, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia

Pot 3: Nigeria, Japan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Honduras, Fiji

Pot 4: Guatemala, Dominican Republic, The Gambia, Israel, Slovakia, Tunisia
