The Simba wa Nairobi have added Wasega to the squad, bringing an end to a long standing depth problem at left back.

Nairobi City Stars have completed the signing of left-back Rogers Obusu Wasega from Laiser Hill Academy on a three-year deal.

The teenager was scouted at the Chapa Dimba Rift Valley regional finals in Nakuru in November 2023 and has been training with the team since December.

Till the arrival of Rogers, City Stars left back department only had Dennis Decha Wanjala, and the ambipedal skipper Calvin Masawa who also operates as a right back.

Speaking following his completion of the signing, Wasega revealed he was looking forward to helping the club achieve its objectives.

“I am greatly honored to have the opportunity to join Nairobi City Stars. It’s a big step and I wish to use this rare chance to showcase what I have to the benefit of the club,” he said.

Team manager Samson Otieno stressed the need to promote youth at the club as a reason to bring the marauding fullback in.

“It’s all about giving chances to the young players which is our policy. He has the right qualities to operate on either side of the left channel as a defender or winger. We welcome him onboard,” said City Stars team coordinator Samson Otieno

Head coach Nicholas Muyoti has described the youngster as a player who will give the side a range of qualities in their quest to maintain their impressive league run.

“From what we have seen, he is a good lad and very promising. He has a lot of unique attributes as a left-footed player and is a very good addition to our setup. He is an asset with age on his side,” said Muyoti.
