Nervousness grips new talent Eric Balecho as he joins seasoned players in Harambee Stars camp for upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Harambee Stars' newbie Eric Balecho may be feeling a touch of nervousness as he stands on the precipice of representing Kenya on the international stage but his determination and ambitions shine brighter than ever.

At just 23, Balecho is among the fresh faces that have earned a call-up to the national team camp, alongside Orlando City's Nabi Kibunguchy and KCB's Hanif Wesonga, who are also experiencing their maiden moments in the Harambee Stars' jersey.

Balecho, who plies his trade at Muranga' Seal in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), has been a standout performer this season, impressing fans and pundits alike with his midfield prowess.

As the team prepares for their upcoming matches against Gabon and Seychelles, Balecho took a moment to share his feelings about this exciting phase of his career.

"I feel good to be given the chance to be in the provisional squad, and I will continue working hard so that I can have a great future," Balecho said, his eyes reflecting both excitement and apprehension.

"Basically, I am learning, as there are more experienced players in the national team. It is a learning process since I am young, and I want to learn from them while working to score more goals and give assists in the future."

The talented midfielder, Balecho, has been a standout in his maiden season in the top-flight league.

The Mass Communication graduate is the only player handpicked to represent the nation from the side currently holding a respectable third place in the league standings.

Harambee Stars first clash against Gabon is set to take place at the Stade De la Renovation in Franceville on November 16.

Afterward, they will journey to Ivory Coast where they will face Seychelles at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan on November 20.

Recalling their recent journey, Harambee Stars delivered a stunning performance by defeating 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar 2-1.

However, they faced a minor setback, losing 1-0 to South Sudan in Nairobi a couple of days later.

Engin Firat's coached side secured a memorable 2-2 draw against Russia in their last build-up encounter in Turkey last month.
