Odera has opened up on the financial challenges that have affected his side this season which partly explain their poor league form, expressing relief following the FKFPL’s recent sponsorship with KBC.

Muhoroni Youth head coach Charles Odera has heaped praise on the government for coming through to sponsor the league thanks to the KBC broadcasting deal as he believes it will help his charges revitalise their season.

Muhoroni sits rock bottom of the table having lost each of their last five games before drawing with Kenya Police in a delayed league encounter played on Monday noon.

Odera has opened up on the financial challenges that have affected his side, opening up on the hectic journey to Mombasa before they played Bandari two weeks ago

“In the Premier League, there is no hard or easy team to play against,” Odera told Pulse Sports.

“It is just a matter of being psychologically prepared and also taking your chances and it will be good. We got a lot of chances (against Police) but we did not use them

“We have had challenges with finances but we have still been playing well. Against Bandari, we had to travel overnight and got to Mombasa at 12 PM yet the match was to start at 3 PM.

“We challenged them and they beat us through a penalty which I thought was very dubious but I am happy that the new sponsorship that came through is giving the players motivation."

Odera believes that the money brought in by KBC will motivate his players and enable him to beef up the squad in the quest to survive relegation in January.

“The money has not come but there is hope so they are now motivated.”

“The matches are reducing but fortunately, we are still in the first leg. I am also grateful for the government intervening through KBC’s sponsorship which will now enable me to convince players to come to my team to beef up our team.

“I am not worried. I can plan but at the end of the day, only God has the final say. I am optimistic we will still finish in a good position. Our fans must not worry. We will finish in a good position.”

The side also went through a rough patch last season, losing a number of games before stringing together some good results that enabled them to survive relegation through the playoffs.

Odera will be hoping they can pick up some momentum and finish the rest of the season on a good note.

They have collected just eight points all season after 14 league games.
