Should the joint bid win, the Kingdom of Morocco would become the second African country - after South Africa - to host the FIFA World Cup.
The Kingdom of Morocco has confirmed that they intend to co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside European nations Portugal, and Spain.
King Mohammed VI of Morocco made this announcement while receiving the CAF President's 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award in Kigali, Rwanda on Tuesday.
King Mohammed VI stated that this bid would unite Africa and Europe as they work to host a great World Cup in a speech that was read on his behalf.
What bids are Morocco-Spain-Portugal competing against?
So far the 2023 FIFA World Cup, which will mark the centennial of the first World Cup, have seen joint bids from across confederations, including cross-confederation bids such as Morocco-Spain-Portugal.
Earlier, CONMEBOL - the South American federating body confirmed its intention to host the centennial tournament in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay.
Also, Egypt Greece and Saudi Arabia have confirmed their intention to jointly host the tournament in what could be a groundbreaking scenario since are three nations are part of three different football federations on three continents: Asia (AFC), Africa (CAF) and Europe (UEFA).
Co-hosting the FIFA World Cup: What has Morocco said?
"This joint bid, which is unprecedented in football history, will bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the Arab and European Mediterranean worlds," King Mohammed VI said as quoted in a statement.

"It will also bring out the best in all of us—in effect, a combination of genius, creativity, and experience."
If successful, Morocco will become the second African country, to host the FIFA World Cup after the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
