Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta discussed their performance against West Ham and Mikel Odegaard's injury.
Mikel Arteta praised Arsenal’s performance against West Ham, lauding his team for maintaining the standards across the board.
The Gunners made light work of the Hammers, beating them 2-0 at the Emirates. However, the celebrations were dampened by the injury sustained by Martin Ødegaard, who had to be replaced at the half-hour mark.
Arteta on their performance
The victory against West Ham helped Arteta's side leapfrog Liverpool and go top of the log. The Reds' defeat to Chelsea ensured the Gunners will stay first until at least after the international break.
"To go top of the table after some big fixtures over the last week and some injuries – we got some today but we were able to respond," he said, per the BBC.
"We dominated and fully deserved to win this. We had some big, big chances we didn't put away. The players who came on contributed to maintaining the standards. Let's look forward to the international break."
Arteta on Odegaard injury
Odegaard was only recently returning from a shoulder injury and had seemingly found form after assisting Bukayo Saka’s goal in the UCL clash against Olympiacos midweek.
However, he only lasted 30 minutes against West Ham, as he suffered a knee injury after a nasty collision. Arteta admitted that he looked bad but said further assessment was required.
“With Martin, it was a clash, knee to knee. It's not looking very positive at the moment.”
"So unlucky again. He went knee to knee and felt straight away something was not right. Let's assess him and see how bad the injury is. He has been very, very unlucky."
