Migori Youth FC assistant coach Sammy Owalo spoke after the Sunday afternoon match played at Simeon Nyachae Stadium.

In a nail-biting encounter at Simeon Nyachae Stadium on Sunday, Migori Youth FC suffered a 1-0 defeat against Shabana, leaving assistant coach Sammy Owalo visibly disappointed.

The National Super League (NSL) clash saw Isaac Otieno netting the decisive goal in the first half, securing Shabana's promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).

However, it was the controversy surrounding the match officiating that overshadowed the game.

As tensions ran high, chaos erupted when Migori Youth fans stormed the pitch, expressing their outrage over a denied penalty claim.

Brian Junior was allegedly brought down inside the box, and the fans believed their team was unjustly denied a chance to equalize.

The ensuing commotion painted a chaotic picture of a match that was already fiercely contested.

Speaking in a post-match interview, assistant coach Sammy Owalo expressed his frustration over the referee's handling of the game.

"The game should have been managed by the referee, but making decisions was a problem for the referee from the word go. It was not good," Owalo stated, clearly dissatisfied with the officiating throughout the match.

Despite the disappointing loss, Migori Youth remains steadfast in their pursuit of promotion to the top-flight league.

"Our target remains to get promoted to the top flight despite the loss. We still have three matches to go, one game at a time. Our next game is against Gusii at home."

The defeat to Shabana undoubtedly dealt a blow to Migori Youth's aspirations, but they are not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

With three matches remaining, the team remains optimistic about their chances of achieving their ultimate goal.

The loss left Migori in fourth place in the standings with 53 points from 29 matches, and they remain in the hunt for third place play-off with Mara Sugar.

The upcoming clash against Gusii promises to be thrilling as the team looks to bounce back and reignite their promotion charge.
