Messi shares message of hope to injured Neymar

Ballon d'Or favourite Lionel Messi has commiserated with Brazilian forward Neymar after his former teammate suffered a gruesome injury while on international duty

Neymar’s former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi has offered his support to the injured Brazilian who now faces an extended time out injured.

The Al Hilal forward was injured on international duty as he was stretchered off against Uruguay in tears after only 45 minutes. 

Neymar was then diagnosed with an ACL rupture that would require the 32-year-old to undergo surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period that should rule him out for the rest of the season.

Messi reacted to news of the injury, posting a message of solidarity with Neymar on his Instagram stories, wishing the Brazilian, “great strength.”  

Neymar to return better than ever

Neymar also posted a message on his social media account, confirming the injury and expressing his belief that he will be back to his best after his rehablitaiton. 

His message read,  “It's a very sad moment, the worst. I know I'm strong but this time I'm going to need my friends [family and friends]  even more. 

“It's not easy to go through injury and surgery, imagine going through it all again after 4 months of recovery.

“I have faith, too much… But I place the strength in God's hands so that he can renew mine. Thank you for the messages of support and affection.”

The Brazilian now faces a struggle to be fit in time for the 2024 Copa America, possibly his last international tournament with the Selecao before hanging up his boots as the country’s highest goalscorer ever.
