Manchester City were lucky to come out 3-1 winners over Leicester City in a Premier League contest at the Etihad Stadium.
The Citizens were dominant in the first half, but in the second half, the Foxes were more ambitious and were unlucky not to claim at least a point.
John Stones and Erling Haaland’s first-half goals were enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to collect three points, while Leicester scored through Kelechi Iheanacho.
Meanwhile, City started with a commanding tone and needed just five minutes to break the deadlock with an unlikely scorer.
Leicester half-cleared a corner, and Rodri kept the ball alive after winning a 50-50 challenge. The ball dropped to Stones from 22 yards, and he struck it powerfully into the top corner.
City’s appeal for a ninth-minute penalty was denied after Wout Faes went back off Jack Grealish right on the line of the box. The referee ordered a corner, judging that Faes had the ball, and after a VAR check, the referee’s decision was upheld.
However, in the 11th minute, City got a penalty after a handball by Wilfred Ndidi. Although the referee had ruled that there was no penalty, after the VAR analysis, he pointed to the spot. Haaland successfully converted the spot kick for goal number 31 in the Premier League.
The Norwegian scored his second of the game in the 25th minute from a Kevin De Bruyne assist. The Belgian went through a bad challenge from Ndidi before he spotted a forward-running Haaland, who then managed to score with a far corner finish.
