Liverpool are reportedly frustrated Southampton have rejected their latest offer for the youngster have been rejected and are now looking at alternatives, including a Brazilian midfielder.

Liverpool are exploring other alternatives after their latest bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia  in the region of f £41million was rejected.

The Anfield club’s opening £37m bid for the 19-year-old midfielder was turned down last month, with the Championship side holding out for closer to £50m.

The Merseyside club believe their latest bid is in keeping with Lavia’s age and experience, and  are now considering alternatives after being frustrated that Southampton have rejected their latest offer as per The Athletic.

Andre at Fluminense is seen as potential option and contact has been made with the Brazilian club to establish what it would take to secure his services.

Liverpool’s midfield is undergoing a comprehensive rebuild this summer with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai already arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion and RB Leipzig.

Jordan Henderson has departed for Al Ettifaq while Fabinho has also joined the former club captain in the Saudi Pro League at Al Ittihad.

James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left at the end of their contracts while Fabio Carvalho moved on loan to RB Leipzig.

Lavia made 29 appearances as Southampton were relegated last season, missing a chunk of the campaign due to a hamstring injury.

He was also subject to a £50m deadline day approach from Chelsea last September, despite only having joined Southampton a few months earlier.

Blessed with press-resistant qualities, an exceptional passing range and the ability to carry the ball, Lavia has the confidence and composure to control the tempo of games despite not turning 20 until next year.

The Belgian’s youth gives him huge room to develop and grow, and Klopp is exceptional at molding players into roles which fit his system.

He is not afraid to get stuck in and covers a lot of ground in similar areas of the pitch to Fabinho.
