List of Nigerians that have played for Chelsea as Osimhen link heats up

Chelsea are emerging as the most likely next destination for Napoli's ace, Victor Osimhen. Should a move materialise, he will join a long list of Nigerians who have valled Stamford Bridge home.

Chelsea Football Club, renowned for its rich history in English football, has been home to a host of footballers from Nigeria. Victor Osimhen's potential move to Chelsea could add to the club's long-standing relationship with Nigerian talent; several notable Nigerians have already left a significant mark on the club. 

Here's a look at some of the distinguished Nigerians who have donned the Chelsea jersey:

John Mikel Obi

John Mikel Obi is undoubtedly the most decorated Nigerian player in Chelsea's history. Joining the club in 2006, Mikel was an integral part of the team for 11 years, during which he won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Europa League, among other titles. His influence and consistency made him a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.

Victor Moses

Victor Moses, another prominent Nigerian at Chelsea, joined the club from Wigan in 2012. Under the guidance of coach Antonio Conte, Moses found his niche, playing a pivotal role in Chelsea’s Premier League triumph. His versatility and adaptability earned him a place in Chelsea’s history, contributing to their Europa League and FA Cup victories as well.

Celestine Babayaro

Celestine Babayaro, often compared to the great Roberto Carlos, joined Chelsea in 1997 for a then-club-record fee. Known for his defensive prowess and attacking capabilities, Babayaro made a significant impact during his time at the club, helping Chelsea win the UEFA Cup Winners Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and Charity Shield.

Ola Aina

Ola Aina, a product of Chelsea's youth system, made his way up through various age groups before breaking into the first team under Jose Mourinho. Despite his potential, Aina found opportunities limited and eventually moved to Torino to further his career.

Kenneth Josiah Omeruo

Kenneth Josiah Omeruo, who joined Chelsea in 2012 from Standard Liege, mostly spent his time at the club out on loan. Although he never broke into the first team, Omeruo had a long association with the club before finally moving to CF Leganes.
