The 2022/2023 season culminated in a historic victory for Kakamega Homeboyz as they claimed their first-ever FKF Cup title, securing a spot in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup tournament.

That is not the only thing to celebrate amongst the Homeboyz faithful, as rising star Moses Shummah was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, with the Kenyan international’s presence in front of goal playing a key part in helping the side win the tournament.

He was named man of the match in both the semi-final and final. He scored one goal all tournament, but his team play, intelligent running on and off the ball and his hard work has earned him the award.

AFC Leopards custodian Levis Opiyo has been awarded the goalkeeper of the tournament as Ingwe finished third in the competition. Opiyo kept clean sheets against Zetech Titans, Muranga Seal, Bandari and Ulinzi Stars in the third place playoff match.

His performance against Ulinzi Stars was particularly spectacular, with the highlight being a double save to deny Elvis Nandwa and Enosh Ochieng.

Tusker’s Stewart Omondi scooped the Golden Boot award after scoring four goals over the duration of the tournament.

Stewart scored a hat trick against Berlin FC, before scoring against Rainbow FC to finish the tournament on four goals, joint top with teammate Eric Otieno.
