Manchester United boss has likened his situation at the club to that of a government minister ahead of the clash against Bournemouth.

Erik ten Hag claims Manchester United have suffered huge bad luck but accepts that, like a government minister, he must be held responsible for the team's performances.

Ten Hag has faced numerous challenges, including uncertainty surrounding Mason Greenwood's future, the Jadon Sancho situation, Antony's off-field troubles, several injuries, and the involvement of Sir Jim Ratcliffe as a part-owner.

“The thing is you have to be realistic,” he said before United's game at the Vitality stadium.

“As a manager, it’s like a minister, yeah? You don’t have anything in your hands, but you have to accept that at the end of the day.

"You are responsible for everything. And I take that."

The Red Devils are all but out of the race for Champions League football, with their best hope resting in a 5th-place finish, which would lead to the Europa League.

There have also been rumours that INEOS are considering replacing Ten Hag, but are waiting to see how he performs in the FA Cup, as a potential trophy could reduce the pressure on the Dutch tactician.
