While he is now a legend of the game, regarded as one of the greatest footballers to play the game, Ronaldinho needed guidance when he joined PSG as a 20-year-old in 2001.

Okocha was already a seasoned professional at the time, having won the AFCON in 1994 and achieved incredible individual success, including coming second in the 1998 African Player of the Year Award.

The Nigerian football legend was a mentor to Ronaldinho and helped him settle in European football after his transfer from Gremio.

What Okocha said

Pulse Sports Gospel Onyemua covered a world record attempt by the Super Eagles legend, in which he asked Okocha to express how he feels having such a positive impact on Ronaldinho's career, and he had the following to say:

“Well, it feels great, you know. I think sometimes in life you have to understand that it's not all about you, you know,” Okocha said.

“ It gives me more joy to know that I, during my career, I helped some people, you know, and I'm not the kind of person that comes out to that helping myself or talking about people that have helped, you know, but it's always good to see people appreciating, you know.”

Okocha led 2000 freestylers attempting to break the world record for the most people keeping a ball in the air. The current record is held by Radio RMF FM (Grupa RMF) in Kraków, Poland, on June 14, 2018, where 1444 people achieved the feat. At the time of writing, it has yet to be confirmed if Okocha’s attempt was successful.
