Al-Hilal's Brazilian star Michael explains the intent behind his 'Suiii' celebration after scoring against Inter Miami.

Al-Hilal star Michael finds himself in the spotlight after his goal celebration stirred discussions about Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. 

The Brazilian forward, who netted for his Saudi Pro League side against MLS opponents Inter Miami in the Riyadh Cup, faced scrutiny for mimicking Ronaldo's signature 'Siuuu' celebration.

Clarification Amidst Celebration Controversy

Michael's jubilant reaction to scoring against Inter Miami included replicating Ronaldo's iconic celebration, prompting speculation about Messi's potential response to witnessing his rival's gesture. 

However, Michael was quick to address the situation, emphasising that his celebration was not intended as a form of disrespect towards Messi. In a statement to the Saudi media, Michael expressed his admiration for Messi, acknowledging the Argentine's stature in the footballing world. He humbly stated, "I am nobody compared to Messi. This comparison is not for me. I'm a big admirer of his; I'm a fan."

Appreciation for Facing Messi

Despite the celebratory antics, Michael conveyed gratitude for the opportunity to compete against Messi on the field. He expressed his appreciation to the organisers of the Riyadh Season Cup for facilitating the encounter, acknowledging the privilege of sharing the pitch with one of football's greatest talents. 

Michael's respectful demeanour towards Messi underscores the mutual respect existing among players, even amidst intense competition and rivalry.
