The Cityzens started the game the better side, and they dominated proceedings until they went ahead in the 41st minute on a Bernardo Silva strike. They held on to the victory until late in the game, failing to add to their lead before Chris Wood pulled Forest level from close range in the 85th minute.

The draw had repercussions for Manchester City in the title race, as they are now two points behind Arsenal having played one more game. Despite the disappointing result, Pep did not think his team played badly, believing they had an excellent game and were able to create excellent chances.

The Spanish coach says it was one of the best games he has seen his team play, and that the only thing missing was goals, admitting that they needed to be more aggressive.

"We did really, really good. It was a really, really good game," Pep told BBC MOTD.

"We had amazing chances but it's football. We have to score. We did everything. You have to do it. There were too many clear [chances] to score.

"It is one of the best games we have played but we drop two points. We should be more aggressive. There are many games still to play, we know it."

‘It is unacceptable' - Kyle Walker

Manchester City's full-back Kyle Walker did not share the same sentiments as his manager who thought they played a really good game. Walker, dejected by the draw, says that their performance in the draw was unacceptable.

The 32-year-old puzzled by his team raising their game to beat Arsenal at the Emirates last week, only to draw at the City ground today submits that his team need to do better, and they should treat every game as a high-profile affair.

"First and foremost we go to the Emirates and play the game we did and then come here, it's unacceptable. If we want to compete with teams near the top we need to win. We missed a few chances and we need to do better as a team.

"Sometimes it's football and sometimes it's emotion. Every game should be treated the same - like a cup final. What can I say other than it is unacceptable? We have to stick together as a group.

"The senior members of the team put our thoughts across. That is just not acceptable. We have to give credit to Nottingham Forest. They dug in and hung on. We have to do better."

Manchester City would now focus on the mid week Champions League tie against Leipzig before traveling to Bournemouth.
