Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has weighed in on the persistent speculation surrounding the future of his "good friend" and teammate, Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield, with sustained interest from the Saudi Pro League and MLS.
Despite both Salah and Van Dijk being under contract until the summer of 2027, exit rumours have intensified. The speculation was initially fuelled by a December 2025 outburst from Salah, who expressed frustration after being benched during a challenging period for the club.
While the talk subsided during Salah's time at the Africa Cup of Nations, it has resurfaced. However, the forward has since returned to form under manager Arne Slot, notably scoring in a fourth-round FA Cup victory against Brighton.

Liverpool vs Brighton: Salah rips Seagulls apart as Reds advance to FA Cup 5th Round
Liverpool continued their quest for FA Cup glory with a commanding 3-0 victory over a hapless Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Saturday night.
Van Dijk calls on Salah to remain at Liverpool
With lucrative offers reportedly on the table from the Middle East and North America, Van Dijk expressed his hope that the Premier League and Champions League winner will remain at Liverpool.
"The situation is what it is," the Dutch defender stated.
"The full focus is on trying to make this season a success first, and we will see how then the season ends, and then you never know what happens."
Van Dijk highlighted their strong personal and professional bond. "I always want Mo to stay because I'm a good friend of his and we've been through the highs and not-so-highs together for so many years. The same as me, he's got one more year, so we will see."
The skipper emphasized Salah's ongoing value to the team, both on and off the pitch.
"Mo is still so important for us. Last week, he had an assist again and broke another record, and he is still the leader," Van Dijk added. "His presence benefits the team. He always gives the team more than goals."
"There's obviously a lot of focus on his goals... he puts the standards so extremely high, so when he doesn't score as much, he gets criticised. He has to stay calm and try to be important with everything he still can do."
