He chose happiness over money — Verdict in Turkey over Osimhen's decision

A Turkish football expert emphasised the implication of Osimhen's decision to continue with Galatasaray.

Turkish sports analyst Faith Dogan’s decision to pick Galatasaray over Al Hilal shows that the Nigerian prioritised his happiness over finances.

Osimhen's choice

The Nigerian is one of the main attacking talents on the transfer market this summer, and he had two main suitors, Galatasaray and Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal.

Al Hilal proposed a superior wage offer and were prepared to pay his release clause up front; however, Osimhen turned down the offer, as he is not prepared to move to Saudi Arabia.

He instead accepted Galatasaray’s reported €16 million offer and will join the Turkish side in a permanent deal, contingent on the Cim-Bom reaching an agreement with Napoli.

Victor Osimhen ended the season with 37 goals in 41 matches.

What Faith Dogan said

Dogan praised Osimhen's quality, describing him as a unique talent in world football. He went on to highlight the Nigerian’s decision, stating that he chose happiness over financial rewards.

"Victor Osimhen is a footballer with a different character,” he said, per GsGazette. "He can do anything when the ball comes to his feet. There are no such players left in the world anymore.

We always see static forwards. Osimhen constantly keeps the audience focused. He won the hearts of Galatasaray fans and will change the balance in Türkiye.

"Are the prices in question high? Yes, they are high, but they are acceptable for these players. Osimhen chose Galatasaray and happiness over money. He will definitely continue to benefit. There's nothing negative to criticise about this transfer.

“Galatasaray will be giving Osimhen one year's worth of Champions League revenue. Think of it as an investment. Osimhen doesn't get injured easily, and Galatasaray could sell him for the same price he bought him for. It wouldn't hurt."
