Former Harambee Stars physiotherapist was severely injured by armed robbers in Githurai on Friday morning.

Armed robbers attacked former Harambee Stars physiotherapist Bruce Juma in the early hours of Friday morning in Githurai, a suburb on the outskirts of Nairobi, leaving him severely injured and now recuperating in hospital.

The incident, which unfolded around 5am near Githurai 44, saw Juma confronted by thugs who, at gunpoint, inflicted injuries severe enough to necessitate immediate medical attention.

According to Fred Arocho, a renowned radio personality, Juma is currently recovering at Ruai Family Health Hospital.

"He was attacked by thugs at gunpoint around Githurai 44 at 5am.," Arocho detailed on a social media post, shedding light on the harrowing ordeal that Bruce Juma faced.

The diagnosis reveals a grim picture of Juma's condition post-attack. He suffered a mild concussion, fractured neck discs or vertebrae, two broken left ribs, and a sprained or twisted right wrist.

Additionally, he has a bruised face, particularly severe around the forehead and below the left eye, alongside severe chest pain and discomfort.

Further injuries include a bruised upper lip, a tongue lesion or cut, and fractured right middle fingers, painting a vivid picture of the brutality of the attack.

Bruce Juma's service to Kenyan football spans significant roles and milestones.

Initially, he joined the men's national team as a physiotherapist around 2012 under the stewardship of coach James Nandwa.

His dedication and skill also saw him extend his expertise to the women's national team, the Harambee Starlets, around 2020, highlighting his invaluable contribution to Kenyan football across genders.

His commitment to the sport and its athletes was unwavering, even in the face of global challenges.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Juma tested positive for COVID-19 following the Starlets' tour of Turkey.
