The former Arsenal and Ivory Coast defender has expressed his interest in taking over the vacant coaching role at Victor Wanyama’s MLS club CF Montreal.
Former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has thrown his hat in the ring in a bid to take over the coaching job at Major League Soccer (MLS) side CF Montreal.
Montreal, home to former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, are looking for a coach following the sacking of Hernan Losada last month in the wake of the club’s failure to secure a place in the MLS playoff.
Canada Soccer Daily has reported that the Ivory Coast legend has been offered to CF Montreal by his representatives who are looking for a new club for their client following his short ill-fated spell at Wigan Athletic.

Victor Wanyama is set to have a new coach at CF Montreal following the sacking of Argentine tactician Hernan Losada whom he had fallen out with after turning him into a bench warmer
Toure’s first job as a manager ended as soon as it started when he was sacked by English League One side Wigan after just nine games with a winless record of six losses and three draws in 2022.
It would therefore be a major gamble for CF Montreal if they hired Toure whose other managerial stints came as Brendan Rogers’ assistant at Celtic and Leicester City.
The Arsenal ‘Invincible’ will, however, draw confidence from former team-mate Thierry Henry, who was also hired by CF Montreal in 2019, despite an ill-fated coaching stint at French club Monaco.
Toure is not the only name that has been linked to the vacant position at Saputo Stadium with current Canada national women’s team coach Bev Priestman also mentioned as those interested.
Priestman was, however, quick to cool off the reports this week, insisting she is still committed to her job and would like to extend her stay.
“That’s not true. I absolutely love this team. It’s not true. I’m trying to commit my future to the 2027 World Cup,” Priestman said when asked about the links to the Montreal job.
