Ex-Manchester City forward Ferran Torres speaks about Barcelona's injury problems.

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres weighs in on the club's current injury crisis, saying that the number of games footballers have to play nowadays makes it inevitable.

The 23-year-old has seemingly overcome his initial struggles at the club and has increased in prominence for the LALIGA champions this season. He is currently away with Spain on international duty.

Barcelona injury problems

Ferran started at centre-forward in Barcelona's draw against Granada over the weekend, a berth enforced by the injury sustained by Robert Lewandowski in the 1-0 victory over Porto on Wednesday.

During the clash against Granada, Jules Kounde suffered an injury, as did Lamine Yamal, and recent reports claim Gavi picked up an injury during international duty.

These players join Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Raphinha, all of whom are already on the treatment table.

What Ferran said

The former Manchester City man was questioned about the club's struggles in the fitness department in a press conference during the international break, and he explained that there is barely any period of rest in the current football calendar, and this leaves footballers vulnerable to niggles and even more serious physical harm.

"Injuries in the team? We play every 3 days, there is practically no rest and I think it is something inevitable in the world of football because the matches require a lot of intensity. I hope that the players on our team who are injured will return 100% fit,” Ferran said, per Barca Universal.
