Rangers and Plateau United will meet in the semifinal of the competition, with the winner, facing either Bendel Insurance or Warri Wolves in the 2023 final.

Former Nigerian cup champions Rangers and Plateau United have both joined the duo of Bendel Insurance and Warri Wolves in the semifinals of the 2023 Federation Cup following their quarterfinal wins on Sunday.

Results from Sunday would see the 78th edition of the competition have three Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sides and one Nigeria National League (NNL) team, attempt to move a step closer to becoming the nation's men's cup champion.

Rangers edge inexperienced Doma United in Akure

Six-time winners Rangers found it slightly difficult at the Akure Sports Complex but succeeded in knocking out overreaching Doma United in their meeting.

After over an hour labouring for a goal, the Enugu club found a way past the troublesome defence of the fellow NPFL side, with Clement Nwobodo on the final end of Philip Clement's assist in the 80th minute.

The victory will see the Rangers now proceed to the semifinal where they meet 1999 champions Plateau United in an attempt to make the final again, for the first time since they last won the cup in 2018.

Plateau United dominant over Kwara United

Meanwhile, at the Area 3 Stadium in Abuja, Plateau United edged Kwara United 1-0, ending the Ilorin side's dreams of winning their own cup title.

A first-half goal by Adam Yakubu on the stroke of halftime was all it took the Jos-based club to distinguish themselves in the tie.

Victory over Kwara United sees them join six-time winners Rangers, three-time champions Bendel Insurance, and 2013 finalists Warri Wolves in the semifinals.
